Wagner Soccer Intercambio 2027
Experience Brazil Through Soccer, Culture & Community
For over 14 years, Wagner Soccer has built deep roots in Brazil, forging lasting partnerships, creating meaningful cultural exchanges, and promoting equity in sport. The Wagner Soccer Intercambio is more than a soccer tour. It's an immersive, life-changing journey through language, sport, and community.
Why Brazil? Why Now?
Since 2012, Wagner Soccer has taken young athletes and their families to Brazil for unforgettable experiences that go far beyond the soccer field. Natal, Brazil, located in the northeast region, is where this story began. With partners like SEI Tangará, Master Zezinho and the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRN), we've developed programs that unite communities and inspire cultural awareness through sport.
What began as a soccer tour quickly became a movement, highlighting the need for girls' access to organized soccer, and bringing about positive, lasting change.
Highlights of the Intercambio Program
-
Train With Brazilian Escolinhas: Play with, not against, local soccer schools and coaches. Experience what it means to grow up as a soccer-loving child in Brazil.
-
Capoeira & Cultural Immersion: Learn Capoeira with Master Zezinho, a martial art deeply rooted in Afro-Brazilian history and community.
-
Community Connection: Live, train, and celebrate with Brazilian families. Participate in language exchanges, traditional meals, and community service.
-
Girls Soccer Initiative: Be a part of cultural change. Train alongside Brazilian girls in programs created through Wagner Soccer's long-term partnerships.
-
Educational Service Projects: Engage in English and Math tutoring in under-resourced communities and participate in infrastructure projects like community park cleanups.
TANGARÁ CAMP
The Tangará Camp Experience
The Tangará Camp is the heart of the program. It is a multi-day immersive experience where American participants and Brazilian youth train, live, and connect together.
Players work side by side with Brazilian teammates, guided by both American and Brazilian coaches. Through shared training, meals, and daily interaction, participants build friendships that go far beyond the field.
The experience culminates in a community celebration game day. A powerful moment where families and communities come together to celebrate connection through soccer.
GIRLS OPPORTUNITY PROJECT
Creating Opportunity Through Soccer
A core part of The Wagner Experience mission is expanding access and opportunity for girls in sport.
In northeastern Brazil, organized opportunities for girls have historically been limited. Through years of partnership and community engagement, this program has helped create space for girls to train, compete, and lead.
This work began with early participation from players like Samantha Wagner, whose experience training in Brazil helped inspire local girls to step onto the field and believe they belonged there.
Today, that impact continues — with girls actively participating, competing, and growing through the game.
